Okinawan karateka of Tomari-te, neighbor of the Nagamine family in Tomari, Naha; Shoshin Nagamine's first teacher, with whom he began karate at 17 in 1926.

  Nagamine's own account names Chojin Kuba as his first karate teacher, in the garden of Kuba's house; corroborated by the ODKS tourism page and the Goodin article. The English autobiography gives 1926, but the Japanese text quoted by Quast dates it to the summer of Taishō 12 (1923)
