Description
Kyokushin is a full-contact style of karate founded by Masutatsu (Mas) Oyama
in 1953. Known for its emphasis on physical conditioning, bare-knuckle sparring,
and powerful strikes, Kyokushin became one of the most influential karate styles
worldwide. The style emphasizes kihon (fundamentals), kata (forms), and kumite
(sparring), with a distinctive training regimen that includes makiwara striking,
body conditioning, and tameshiwari (breaking techniques). Kyokushin kaikan is
the organization that governs the style internationally.
