Description

Huaquan is one of the major northern Chinese Long Fist (Changquan) martial arts, alongside Chaquan and Paochui. The name 'Hua' (华) means 'magnificent' or 'flowery,' referring to the style's emphasis on beautiful, extended movements combined with practical combat techniques. Huaquan features fully extended postures, dynamic footwork, and a balance of high and low techniques. The canonical curriculum includes ten progressively-numbered forms (Shi Lu Huaquan). Together with Chaquan, it forms the 'Cha Hua family' (查华一家) of northern martial arts. Huaquan was one of the foundational influences on modern competition wushu Changquan.
