The Japanese Wikipedia article records Mochizuki entering the Bushukan dojo of Onaga Kuro (Rikishin-ryu) in 1918 to begin kendo; the Shizuoka Kendo Federation history confirms the master and dojo. The Dragon Magazine interview instead places his kendo start in 1924 at Komatsugawa with an unnamed teacher

The evidence favours the claim and nothing credible contradicts it, but it falls short of establishing it.
